Having successfully arrived, checked in, and stowed the luggage, we set out to look for a money exchange. Our first venture on the metro! We came up to the surface not knowing much about where we were. Here are some of the things we saw.
The Grand Palais

Street scene

Pont Alexandre

The Arc de Triomphe

Our hotel room was... spartan. But hey, it was clean and no one murdered us in our sleep. And it had its own bathroom.

Admittedly Bussy St. Georges isn't incredible - but that's not what we're here to see.

Metro stations are cool. Most are art deco and each one is different. We didn't get images of the actual stations, but here's a sign, and the glass arch over the Gare du Nord station.

Nextel told me my phone would work over there. It didn't. I stopped in an Internet cafe to see if I could find a better support number. I don't know if it was the French phone system or the vagaries of international calling cards, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to call a toll-free American number. So I never did get it sorted out...

A nice cathedral.

A nice dome.

A nice river (and a rare moment of sunshine).

Laura and the Seine.

Now that we have some idea of just what is going on, we're moving on to the Louvre.
