We start out crossing a river.

Then along the edge of Swiftcurrent Lake.

The morning was quite foggy.

And on around the lake we go.

Next, we come around Josephine Lake. The path splits into two here - one continues by the lakeshore, and the other goes up the hillside.

There it is...sort of.

Some other nice views.

Doesn't this look just like a painting?

The sun is coming out.

This is toward the Goal. You can see the glaciers off to the right.

A more direct view of the Goal.

Here you can see the waterfalls that descend from the melting glacier.

Gem Glacier, further up.

Trouble afoot!

It is a long way down, already, too.

Grinnell Lake is fed by a series of waterfalls coming down from the glacier.

Waterfalls on the trail. Washouts aren't too bad though.

Josephine Lake is getting farther away.

But Grinnell Lake is getting closer. And farther down.

The views are nice.

I'm almost level with the Glacier now.

Here's the waterfall that eventually goes down to the lake.

Almost there!

There, you can see the trail ahead.

Wildflowers.

Distant views.

Almost there - again...

These are called Dr. Seuss flowers or Tina Turner flowers...for obvious reasons.

The lake is back there...

Finally - after another short but grueling climb, and then a quick descent - here we are.

In 1910, this was ALL glacier.

There are icebergs and there is snow left over from winter that hasn't melted yet.

One last view back - before I start that long trek back down.

This place has a great, great steak dinner and they fed me well after my long hike. If you're out there - go here.
